Custom Software Development

Thinkstorm can fulfil the common requirement for long term on-site implementation consultants. Sometimes, however, there is need for highly skilled technical consultants to fulfil short term development needs. This need may arise during the build phase of the project or during the post go-live maintenance and enhancement of the solution. For such ad-hoc development work, it may not be feasible or cost effective to hire dedicated technical and functional consultants.

Thorough Specifications and On-Site Consultation

The key to successfully developed deliverables is a comprehensive spec prepared through careful analysis. In reality however, it is not always possible to capture every possible requirement and foresee all possible scenarios in a specification. Communication between the author of the spec and developers is always expected. To reduce the time spent in this process, we insist on an experienced Thinkstorm functional consultant for documenting requirements in collaboration with the project team on site.

Agile Development Methodology

We recognise that software development is an iterative process and we invite the client to review the deliverables early and frequently during the development process and provide feedback. This catches miscommunications early and in some cases early access to the deliverable can identify issues not foreseen during the planning or specification stage.

Test Driven Development

Our specifications include comprehensive tests and scenarios which represent all requirements for the deliverable. The deliverable is coded to pass these tests and the entire test suite must be passed before it is considered complete. New tests are created to cover each new requirement. Where possible, these tests are automated.

Honesty and Timely Communication

It is a rare or very simple project that doesn't suffer some unforeseen setback. Thinkstorm promises to be honest about any issues encountered which may impact the delivery date and communicate them to the client as early as possible.

Human Capital Management can have complex requirements and and the solutions tend to be equally complex. By following the methodology described above, we can ensure success and reduce risk.

Time Estimates

An estimate of the development effort will be provided after sign off on the spec. Changes to the spec requiring additional development work will be estimated separately.

Required Access

It is expected that access to existing project databases, test data, application servers and project documentation will be provided to the development team as required before development commences. Thinkstorm will make every effort to maintain security of client information and assets.

Warranty

We stand behind our work and agree to address any issues related to the deliverable identified within a reasonable period from the delivery date. This warranty does not cover change requests, change in scope and issues arising due to interactions with other system modules unless Integration Testing is included in the Statement of Work.

Response Times

We will respond to issues and requests within two business days. Resolution of issues will be dependent on the nature of the issue but we will make every effort to resolve them in a timely manner.

Change Requests & Scope Change

Changes are inevitable and sometimes cannot be avoided. Thinkstorm will endeavour to accommodate, at no additional cost, fair and reasonable requests for change as long as these changes do not significantly impact the delivery date or increase the development effort.

Requirements not identified in the spec that become apparent during or after the development and which do not fall into the above category, will be considered change requests and will be billed separately.

Increase in development effort due to defects or deficiencies in the Workbrain product will be shared with the client.

Intellectual Property

The deliverables are the client's property, however, we occasionally reuse pre-developed and tested code and may reuse parts of developed code in future on other projects.
